Circle’s Arc Blockchain Unveils Quantum-Resistant Security Roadmap
Circle’s Arc blockchain, a Layer 1 network developed by the stablecoin issuer, has detailed a comprehensive plan to safeguard its ecosystem against the looming threat of quantum computing. The roadmap outlines a phased implementation of quantum-resistant features across wallets, private states, validators, and infrastructure.
The initiative will debut with a post-quantum signature scheme for wallets at mainnet launch, adopting an opt-in model to avoid disruptive forced migrations. Circle warns that quantum computing could render current public key cryptography obsolete by 2030 or earlier, necessitating proactive measures.
Private virtual machines will provide interim protection for sensitive data until full quantum resistance is achieved. The approach reflects growing industry urgency to address what many view as an existential threat to blockchain security.
